Different types of tags can be added to members, items or purchases, and are used for different purposes. To add a tag in the designated field, type the tag and press Enter on your keyboard.
There are 7 types of tags
- Filter Tags
- Member Tags
- View Tags
- Purchase Tags
- Gift Tags
- Limitation Tags
- Action Tags
Filter Tags
Filter tags can be added to locations, catalog items and catalog categories. Members can use these tags to filter their catalog or location list in the app.
💡For example, you can tag certain locations wheelchair accessible or vegan, or both. Filter tags can be represented visually using an icon called a badge.
You can also choose to display only locations or catalog items that have a specific filter tag.
💡For example, you can show members only the items that are tagged sale or new.
Member Tags
Member tags are used to tag the members themselves. For example, they can be tagged VIP, students, etc. They can either be tagged manually from the Data & BI tab or using an automation.
You can tag members based on their purchases, or club activity and then give them special offers according to this tag. When combined with view tags, you can allow only members with a certain tag to view items with the same tag.
💡For example, only show students "back to school" promotions by tagging these items and members students.
View Tags
View tags can be added to welcome messages, splash screen ads, photo gallery images, custom list items, catalog item, and catalog categories. These tags limit who can see the tagged item to only members that have the same tag. This is a great way to customize content to specific members.
Purchase Tags
Purchase tags are added to purchases directly by the POS (unlike other tags that are created in the Como Hub).
💡 For example, a gas station that has a store might use one purchase tag for gas and a different one for items from the store. You can view data or perform actions based on members who made purchases with a certain tag.
Gift Tags
You can also add tags to gifts. They can either be used to turn a regular gift into a scratch card or to add a badge to the gift that corresponds to this tag.
NOTE: Although a tag field appears for point shop items, punch cards, prepaid cards, gift cards, lottery rewards, and club deals, these tags aren't currently in use.
Limitation Tags
Limitation tags are added to automations. By adding the same limitation tag to different automations, the occurrence limits are applied collectively to this group of automations.
💡 For example, suppose there are 2 automations that send members the same punch card. If you only want to send it to each member once, you can tag both automations "punch card" and set the occurrence limit to 1 time. Then only the first automation that is triggered occurs for the specific member (i.e. sends them this punch card).
Action Tags
Action tags are added to actions in smart automations. They allow us to collect and present more meaningful data by allowing us to group and identify related actions (such as actions related to the same campaign).
💡 For example, by adding the tag “Summer 2016” to relevant actions, we can collect data related to this specific campaign—like how many members received a specific asset during the campaign. You can also add a condition to an automation based on the action tag of the trigger event. For example, if a member received an asset during this campaign, send them a custom push notification.
